don't peg Will as some bushie. I know him, he's more aligned with the ideals of our founders [he loves madison] than any bushie neo-con stuff.

Right, and our founders believed in different things depending on what faction they were aligned with. If he is a Madison fan as you say he would hate the idea of parties altogether and Madison would probably want to see it abolished in favor a non-partisan government

And James Madison is right about political parties. Luckily for us, our governmental institutions and constitution guard against the dangers he mentions. Read the Federalist papers - all of them. I think Madison foresaw the inevitability of faction (it was beginning to occur already during his time) and wanted to mitigate the potential negatives associated with it.
